On Sunday morning, I braved the snowstorm for the Stow Independent to cover the Stow vs. Maynard youth basketball game at the Center School. Pictures are available in the gallery.

Last Wednesday, the Stow Independent sent me to cover the Nashoba Chieftains vs. Lunenburg at the North Star Youth Forum in Westboro. The teams skated to a 1-1 tie. It wasn’t the most comfortable rink in the world, and I ended up having to shoot in a little spot between the bench and the boards, but it was a good time none the less. Pictures are posted in the gallery.

Last month, I got to tag along on one of Christy’s business trips to Paris. I’ve been so busy that I just got around to processing the photos. They’re posted in the gallery.
In addition to seeing most of the main touristy attractions in Paris, we also took a day trip out to Versailles. Highlights of that day included getting on the wrong train and riding it out in to the suburbs north of the city. It wasn’t a bad trip, and we got to see a little more of the country, but by the time we got to Versailles, our “arrive early” approach had failed, and we spent a lot of time in crowded lines that day. Being the cultured person that I am, my astute impression of the palace is that the French nobility had WAY too many bedrooms.
It was my first time visiting France, and I had a good time. The food and wine were both very very good. The weather was cold, and at least one of the days was fairly drizzly, so we ended up spending a lot of time drinking in cafes. Not bad. I also had just recently injured my back, so I ended up being a big fan of riding in a boat around the Seine. I also found their subway system relatively easy to handle once you figure out that the doors on the train cars don’t open automatically.
Once I got used to being a little more formal with the French language (everybody expects you to address them as Monsieur or Madame), I realized that they were not really as nasty to Americans as I expected them to be. In general, I’m starting to figure out a lot of the perceived problems that Americans have when traveling overseas are usually related to the fact that those particular Americans are themselves the problem.
More photos available at my Flickr account.

At the request of someone who happened across my Flickr account, I’ve posted some of the pictures from one of the Flyers vs. Bruins games that I went to in Boston last season. Here’s the link to the gallery.

Galleries from the Chieftains last two games against Leominster and Gardner are now posted. As usual, I have a couple hundred other photos that I didn’t post, so if you are looking for a specific player, please drop me an email.

For all you fans of the Daley, Weismore, and Midwood families, I finally got around to posting the photos from Julie and Jon’s wedding, and from Maggie’s christening. I think these would look pretty good in matte or luster finishes. I have a few more from both events, so if you’re looking for people not posted in the galleries, let me know.

I’ve started covering Friday Night Lights for the Stow Independent. Two Friday’s ago I got to cover the varsity football home opener for the Nashoba Chieftains in Bolton, MA. The Chieftains beat the Westboro Raiders, 23-0 on a rainy night. Two of my photos made it into the paper, and they weren’t too shabby for my first night out. Stay tuned for more photos of the team as the season progresses. Photos are available for purchase in the gallery. If you have any special requests for the games, let me know.

I just posted a few of the photos from my officemate’s daughter’s wedding. I thought they came out pretty well. I used Photomatix to process the outdoor ones for HDR, but the indoor ones were a little too grainy. I’ll have to crank down the ISO next time and use a bigger flash.
